Vibes by the Seaside: 5 - 7 October 2013
Headline acts have just been announced for Manly Jazz 2013! Over the long weekend from 5 - 7 October see some of jazz's finest including Lionel Cole (USA), John Morrison and Jackie Cooper with special guest guitar legend George Golla, Australia's Got Talent Grand Finalist Liam Burrows and the Andy Firth Big Band, as well as Australia's greatest gift to jazz vocals, Emma Pask. See the event website for more!
Now in it's 36th year, Manly Jazz has a rich history of dishing up some of the best live jazz performances from across Australia and around the world. Taking place over the October long weekend, this is an iconic event on the Australian music scene and is firmly positioned as Sydney's biggest celebration of all things jazz.
Manly Jazz attracts a mixed crowd from ‘hard-core’ jazz aficionados (that's everything from funk, blues, swing, trad and more) to family groups and those who simply love a festival in the sun and by the seaside. With a mix of intimate indoor venues and big outdoor stages along the famous Manly beachfront and Corso, Manly Jazz caters for all. And when the sun goes down the vibe continues in the many bars and music venues across town to keep the music going well into the night.
How To Get Here..
Public transport is the best way to get to Manly Jazz. Regular ferries from Circular Quay drop you right in the heart of Manly while buses are available right across the north shore and northern beaches.
Jazz Workshop – ‘Groove and Stagecraft’
Multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter and educator Craig “CC” Calhoun has been “slappin’ da bass” for audiences around the world working with the likes of Santana, Kool and the Gang, Will Calhoun of Living Colour and Australian icons Marcia Hines, Jimmy Barnes, Diesel and Renee Geyer. In his workshop, Craig will pass on his knowledge, techniques and experiences which will focus on groove and performance stagecraft. 'Groove' will focus on the interaction between the bass and drums in a rhythm section while 'Stagecraft' will deliver tips and techniques to engage audiences and the importance of maximising the dynamics and sound frequencies of the venue you are performing in.More Products from Manly Jazz
