Those interested will need to work Monday-Friday, from this September until April next year.
Pittwater lifeguard supervisor Phil Dunn said you don’t need to have lifeguard experience to apply, but will need the necessary training qualifications completed beforehand.
“It is preferable to have some patrolling experience as a lifeguard or surf club member,” Mr Dunn said.
“People get this perception that the lifeguards are all surf club people but of most of the seasonal staff over the years only about one third or one quarter are from surf club backgrounds.
“We’ve had ex-pro surfers working for us, along with off-duty ambos and firies.”
Mr Dunn encouraged people to sign up for what he said was both an enjoyable and rewarding job.
“It’s a great way of life when on the beach five days a week and getting paid for what a lot of people like doing in their leisure time,” Mr Dunn said. “Obviously the priority is the safety of beachgoers both in and out of the water and maintaining a safe swimming area between the red and yellow flags and being there to protect the public.”
