Premier Mike Baird, who is the member for Manly, said he was pleased to finally be able to deliver the upgrades the northern beaches deserved.
“This is a watershed moment for the northern beaches,” he said.
“Whether you’re driving or commuting, we’ll finally deliver upgrades that will make a significant impact.”
The budget will allocate $125 million for building the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system from Mona Vale to the city, including indented bus bays, more frequent services and longer service operating hours.
Mr Baird said the transit lanes would be built kerbside as opposed to the centre of the road and buses would run every few minutes.
