Iconic Freshwater club Harbord Diggers is injecting more than $42,000 into community organisations as part of its 2016 ClubGRANTS program.

Harbord Diggers is delivering grants to Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club, Northside Enterprise, Be Centre Foundation and Beyond A Joke. These four community groups form part of a total of 46 organisations receiving more than $600,000 in ClubGRANTS funding from Mounties Group this year.

Dale Hunt, General Manager of Harbord Diggers, said that all of the organisations receiving funding provide a vital community service to people living on the Northern Beaches.

“Harbord Diggers is proud to support a diverse range of local organisations through our ClubGRANTS program. This year, we are pleased to be contributing to organisations which benefit all facets of our community, from people with a disability to disadvantaged and vulnerable children and even the local beach-going public,” said Mr Hunt.

“This year, our ClubGRANTS funding has exceeded $40,000 and we look forward to further increasing contribution to worthwhile organisations and initiatives when our future Harbord Diggers opens,” he added.

Amongst the recipients is Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club, which will receive a generous $25,000 grant to purchase vital equipment and patrol uniforms in time for the busy summer season.

“Harbord Diggers has enjoyed a strong relationship with Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club for many decades and we are thrilled to provide ongoing support to the Club through our annual ClubGRANTS program,” Mr Hunt said.

Harbord Diggers will also deliver funding to Be Centre Foundation, which will go toward Play Therapy Scholarships for disadvantaged and vulnerable children.

“Be Centre Foundation supports disadvantaged or at risk children in our community and works with them to improve their emotional and physical wellbeing. Harbord Diggers is proud to be supporting such a valuable community organisation that positively impacts the lives of the children,” Mr Hunt added.

Other beneficiaries of this year’s funding include Northside Enterprise, who will use the funds to train employees with a disability in administration and manufacturing work, as well as Beyond A Joke, an organisation which targets bullying and offers programs to build resilience, self-worth and prevent bullying-related suicide.

Harbord Diggers has provided more than $150,000 in funding to local community organisations and projects through the ClubGRANTS program in the last four years.

These organisations were presented with their grants at a special presentation last Thursday at Mounties.
