FROM CERRETTI CHAPEL MANLY TO CARNEGIE HALL NEW YORK!!

We have been invited by Distinguished Choirs International New York ( DCINY) to sing Brahms' "A German Requiem" in Carnegie Hall, New York at the end of May 2017, along with other internationally selected choirs. This was the result of having submitted an audition tape of our December 2015 concert - Saint-Saens' "Christmas Oratorio". We were invited on the basis of " the quality and high level of musicianship demonstrated by the singers, as well as the exceptional quality of the recording". It is indeed an honour for a community based choir to be selected, and a tribute to our magnificent conductor Carlos Alvarado, who has developed our singing to such a high standard over the past 12 years.

"A German Requiem" is a deeply moving and powerful work, inspired by the death of the composer's mother. It stands out from other Requiems and Masses in that it was composed to reflect the German form of worship, at the time Lutheran, and was sung in German; this is in contrast to the predominant Catholic masses, sung in Latin. In keeping with the spirit of the work, we will be singing it in German. In rehearsals we are really enjoying both the vigor and sensitivity of this amazing work.

So - please come and enjoy this performance before we go to perform in Carnegie Hall.

Adults $45, Concession $40, Students $20, Children under 12 free with booking.
