Avalon Beach
Avalon Beach is located to the north of Bilgola Beach and south of Whale Beach. Avalon is 500m long boarded by the 60m high sandstone cliffs and rock platforms of the Hole in the Wall and Bilgola Head. The beach is backed by a fenced 25m high foredune.
Avalon has become the favoured "sea-change" destination, for people looking to adopt the surfer lifestyle.
Avalon Beach is superb for swimming, surfing windsurfing and fishing. A rock swimming pool is located at the southern end of the beach. A shady park area provides refuge from the summer sun, together with picnic and BBQ facilities.
The edge of the south cliff is known as Little Avalon, where the swell sucks up hard on a shallow rock shelf to produce fast-barrelling tube rides.
