Skate Parks

Riding a bike, scooter or skateboard and performing tricks is a very popular pastime with teenagers and kids. There are many benefits for children from engaging in outdoor environments. Aside from gaining a great social experience, outdoor activities are a positive alternative to watching television and playing video games.

Skate parks are a great place for children to learn social skills, learn how to cooperate and take turns. Children involved with the greater community find a sense of belonging, which also has a positive effect on mental health. Skate boarding promotes active lifestyles which result in children strengthening their ability to focus and learn more efficiently, both with hand-eye coordination and in the class room.

There are several skate parks along the Northern Beaches that encourage children and teens to stay safe off the road. Facilities such as skate parks are designed to promote a healthy living and can minimise boredom, increase fitness and help reduce obesity.
