Pittwater Bushwalking Tracks and Guide
Bangalley Headland
A relatively hard walk, 45 leisurely minutes return on a loop track. The headland is the highest point on Sydney's northern coastline, and offers spectacular views south to Sydney and north to Broken Bay and the central coast.
Bangalley Head is one of the largest bushland reserves on Pittwater's coastline. This large size together with the great variety of native plants, makes the reserve an ideal home for an abundant variety of native wildlife.
Mona Vale Headland
A moderately easy walk, 10 leisurely minutes one way. The walk features large, open, grassy areas and a scenic lookout point, as well as insights into the history of settlement in Mona Vale and the Pittwater area.
Bilgola South Headland
A moderately hard walk, 20 leisurely minutes one way through coastal vegetation typical of shale based soils. A highlight is a scenic lookout point over the magnificent cabbage tree palms of Bilgola Valley.
Turimetta Headland
A moderately easy walk, 30 leisurely minutes one way to secluded scenic lookouts and rest areas. The walk is designed to provide insights into the past coastal lifestyle of the Gayemagal people.
Narrabeen Headland
A moderately hard walk, 20 leisurely minutes one way. Highlights include an elevated timber stairway, scenic lookouts and a short bush walk, as well as insights into how Narrabeen Lagoon affected Pittwater's transport history. A spectacular lookout point over Turimetta Beach has disabled access and parking via Peal Place.
Katandra Bushland Sanctuary
Nestled in the hills behind Mona Vale is one of the northern beaches best kept secrets. Visitors can follow the winding bush paths through 10 hectares of rainforest pockets, heathland and open forest. The sanctuary is particularly spectacular in spring, with wildflowers bursting into bloom.
Katandra is located on Foley's Hill on Lane Cove Rd, off Mona Vale Rd.
