The name ‘Narrabeen’ may have come from the Aboriginal ‘Narrabang’ (wild swan) or Narrowbine’ (the lagoon entrance).
Narrabeen is located on the Northern Beaches approx 23km from Sydney's CBD.
You can basically do any water activity, including windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, rowing, fishing, boating and swimming.
Narrabeen is surrounded by numerous parks and reserves, and has numerous walking tracks.
The area has some fine restaurants and cafes and a friendly shopping area. There is a monthly Saturday morning market with numerous stalls and the markets are located right on the waters edge of Narrabeen Lake.
