Locals Jackson Davies and Jennifer Everett took out the top prizes in General and Small Sculptures categories respectively in the highly coveted 2019 Northern Beaches Art Prize.

Mayor Michael Regan said this year Council received almost 900 entrants across the multiple award categories.

“This is the region’s most prestigious art competition, beginning as the Warringah Art Prize back in 1955,” the Mayor said.

“It continues to grow each year and the calibre of this year’s entrants was outstanding.

“Congratulations to all the talented entrants and particularly those who took out awards on the night.

“I encourage all residents to get down and see the exhibition of the winning works at the Creative Space in North Curl Curl – you won’t be disappointed.”

The General Category includes original paintings or drawings in any medium; printmaking and collage. The winners for this year’s competition include:

  • Winner, $6000 – Jackson Davies for Wer mich liebet, der wird mein Wort halten (The one who loves me will keep my promise)
  • Honourable Mention (Painting) - $1000 – Katika Schultz for Home
  • Honourable Mention (Works on Paper) - $1000 – Alison Billing for Autumn in the Valley
  • Encouragement Award, $500 – Guy Morgan for James and Me
