Local Northern Beaches pie maker and Sydney’s new ‘flying pieman’ Ryan Broomfield will be at Charlotte’s Little Sister, Manly this Saturday (2nd December) to launch his new Christmas menu and Broomfields partnership with Charlotte Café.

Broomfields all-butter pastry pies are filled with the finest local ingredients; and combine the iconic flavours of Australia with those of Ryan’s British roots.

From this Saturday, 2nd December, Broomfields pies will be available hot to eat at Charlotte’s Little Sister or chilled to take home and bake. Ryan, who is usually found selling his handcrafted pies from his PieCycle at Manly Wharf on Wednesday evenings, will be offering samples of the new Broomfields Christmas Menu as well as some classic pie flavours from 10am – 2pm.

The Broomfields Christmas menu comprises:

Broomfields Christmas Pie: Pot-roasted free range Bannockburn chicken, pork, white wine and sage stuffing, garlic and onion cream, cranberries, lemon and orange zest, parsley and Paxo.

Boxing Day Curry: Pot-roasted free range turkey, English chip shop curry sauce, honey roasted carrots and parsnips and Paxo stuffing.

Spiced Chickpea, Squash and Feta: Ras el Hanout-roasted butternut squash and red onion, crumbed Greek feta, apricots, currents and parsley.

The PieCycle is a nod and a wink to Sydney’s illustrious pie history and its original flying pieman William Francis King who in the 1840/50s sold pies to Parramatta steamer passengers. It also references the pie hawkers of Victorian England who would sell pies from a barrow or a shallow (trays carried on the head).

Broomfields has its own piece of pie history, the pies are handcrafted by Ryan, who learnt the art of pie making from his brother Neil, Britain’s most awarded pie man and Supreme Pie Champion of Britain 2015.

Charlotte Café is the creation of owner Jason Ghebar. Inspired by his Middle Eastern background, the cafés offer modern Australian dishes with a Lebanese twist. This fusion of flavours is truly unique to the Charlotte Cafés group. Broomfields pies are also available from Charlotte Café in the Australian Technology Park and will be rolling out across other branches in Pennant Hills and Mosman in the New Year.
