Northern Beaches Council’s budget for the next financial year will deliver on the vision of our community, balancing high quality services with investments in key projects and infrastructure.

Mayor Michael Regan said Council was in a strong financial position, paying down debt and focusing on the things that make the Northern Beaches an extraordinary place to live and work.

“There are some fantastic highlights in this budget,” Mayor Regan said.

“With a total expenditure of more than $439 million, including $111.4 million for capital works, we are getting on with delivering for our community.

“Residents have told us that they want more footpaths so we are doubling our new footpaths allocation to $3 million, bringing the total investment in new pathways to more than $22.5 million for next financial year.

“We are progressing the spectacular 36km Manly to Palm Beach Coast Walk – an incredible natural and cultural asset for locals and visitors alike.

“We will complete the Church Point precinct project and undertake upgrades to Beacon Hill Community Centre and Youth Club and some of our childcare centres.

“We will also upgrade roads, cycleways, sportsfields and playgrounds right across the area and improving the streetscapes in many of our town centres. We’ll be introducing a new waste service across the whole Northern Beaches in mid-2019.

“And we'll continue to deliver our extensive range of great services - from libraries to childcare, aquatic centres, art and theatre and sustainability initiatives.

“This is a budget which services our community now and addresses the needs of our future residents.

“I’d like to thank all the residents who got involved in the development of our Delivery Program, made submissions or attended one of our Budget Roadshows.

“I’m really looking forward to what we can achieve over the next twelve months and beyond,” he said.
