Call Out for Sculptors and Artists to ‘Jazz Up’ Warringah Aquatic Centre Garden

Northern Beaches Council is calling on talented artists and sculptors to submit examples of their work for exhibition in the Warringah Aquatic Centre’s (WAC) outdoor garden launching in October.

Mayor Michael Regan said the initiative aimed to provide a different exhibition space for local artists and provide a cultural experience for visitors.

“This area has long been a haven for so many talented artists, and what a fantastic way to also celebrate the re-opening of the Warringah Aquatic Centre outside area leading into summer.

“Given the exceptional calibre of works we received for the recent Northern Beaches Art Prize, I am looking forward to seeing how we can enhance the bushland space available at the aquatic centre,’’ the Mayor said.

Two kinds of artwork will be on public exhibition – short term ephemeral designs as well as artwork which is suitable to be displayed for up to six months.

All artworks and sculptures submitted will be assessed by a selection panel, with selected artists paid a fee of $500 per piece.

The exhibition will open on Saturday 19 October to coincide with the launch of the summer swimming season at the WAC.

You can view the Artist Brief on Council’s website, with applications closing at 5pm, Friday 6 September.
