Caring For Our Carers

Australia’s 2.7 million carers do vital work, largely unseen and behind closed doors. If they were all to stop work tomorrow, it would cost the country $60.3 billion to replace them.

To celebrate the incredible contribution they make to the community, Northern Beaches Council and the Northern Beaches Community Connect carers program, are hosting a series of free events during Carers Week (13 -19 October) so carers can take time out, relax, socialise and have fun.

Mayor Michael Regan said carer work can be intense and it is important carers are able to have a break every now and then.

“We all know someone who is looking after someone, maybe aged or infirm and we know at times it can be almost a 24/7 type job.

“This is why National Carers Week 2019 on the Northern Beaches includes a range of free activities focused on getting together and having fun.

“If you’re a carer or you know someone who’s a carer, let them know about these free activities created just for them,” Mayor Regan said.
