Have you ever wanted to spin someone, jig about or just clap your hands and stamp your feet when you hear lively music? Here’s your chance!

The Sydney branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society are holding a ceilidh (pronounced “kay-lee”) in Forestville. This Scottish dance party is rather like a barn dance or bush dance where couples dance easy figures such as turning, wheeling, weaving or chasing, to finish at the foot of the set so the next couple has a turn. There are also circle dances and square dances. It is normal to take a new partner for each dance so it’s a great way to socialise and make new friends.

“I get so much enjoyment from Scottish Country Dancing,” says Diana Hastie, who will be MCing the event.  “I wanted to get my friends and neighbours to try it too.”

The talented Iain Mackenzie will be providing live music with his trusty accordion, and is sure to have you tapping your feet and clapping along in no time.

RSCDS Sydney Branch would like to acknowledge the support from RSCDS Head Quarters in holding this event.
