What do you do when you have climbed Everest?
A Women 4 Women Himalayan walking retreat in Nepal

Australia’s first woman to Summit Mt Everest Brigitte Muir OAM turns 60 this year.
This November, she is teaming up with Northern Beaches Professional Women’s Coach and Mentor Juliette Robertson to take 12 women on a unique Walking Retreat in Nepal.

Brigitte has been going to the same village in the foothills below Everest many times since 2007. She fundraised to help the women of the Gyamdanda Community villages in Solu learn to read and write and helped fund other empowerment projects and courses. The Mothers Group, as the women’s committee is known, has a community bank account and supports families in need with small loans.

Brigitte sees her involvement with a small community in Nepal as an opportunity to share and inspire Western women to step out of their comfort zone to help themselves and others.

Local Executive Women’s Coach and Mentor Juliette Robertson, lives on Scotland Island and shares a similar vision for inspiring women. Juliette met Brigitte Muir over 20 years ago at basecamp on Mt Aconcagua in Chile, while attempting to summit the highest mountain in the southern hemisphere. They bonded over a cocoa while waiting for storms to clear. Their lives then diverged but in 2017, Juliette tracked Brigitte down and asked her to consider endorsing her new book – an adventure travel and coaching memoir. Brigitte did, and the women have been liaising by phone, and internet between Sydney and Natimuk Vic to create the joint venture ever since.

Brigitte and Juliette will meet face to face later this year after 21 years apart.

The Women’s Walking Retreat in the Everest hill country is about:

  • Women taking time out of their busy western lives to refocus on their personal and professional goals for 2020 and beyond;
  • Sharing skills with local village women to help them with whichever cottage industry business ventures or goals they want to pursue.

Brigitte believes this is a first of its kind.
