Fancy Clearing Your Library Debts for a Good Cause?

Do you have outstanding library fees? How about making them a thing of the past and supporting a good cause at the same time.

For two weeks beginning Monday 14 May, library members with outstanding fees can donate in-date canned food in lieu of these fees at any one of our Northern Beaches libraries.

The food will be donated to Street Mission, who will put it to good use at its two community cafes at Dee Why and Balgowlah, providing meals for disadvantaged people.

The initiative is also timed to coincide with Library Week, an Australia-wide promotion educating people about the benefits of libraries, which runs from 21- 27 May.

Northern Beaches Council Mayor Michael Regan said the initiative worked towards achieving two goals at the same time.

“The Library is running a very worthy program to assist people in need and draws attention to those less fortunate in our community. For every in-date can you donate, you will get $1 off your unpaid fees.

“It’s time to wipe the slate clean on any outstanding fees that may have possibly arisen as a result of not being able to put down a good book and return it in time, but it will also be an opportunity for you to see what’s new at your local library.” Mayor Regan said.

Northern Beaches libraries are located at Dee Why, Forestville, Glen Street in Belrose, Manly, Mona Vale and Warringah Mall in Brookvale.
