Northern Beaches Council has published its latest must-have Seniors Directory for 2018 2020 listing details of hundreds of vital local services and activities designed to assist residents.

The handy compendium provides contact details and other information about a host of local services, including food, legal advice, home library, arts and cultural organisations, sport and recreational facilities, transport, home nursing, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services, multicultural services, domestic assistance, personal care, aids and personal alarms, home maintenance, counselling, financial and scores of other practical, day-to-day support programs.

Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said the directory aims to help older residents remain healthy, independent, connected and productive members of our community.

“Council promotes healthy ageing through our publications, services, activities and events.

“Our aim is to reduce social isolation by encouraging seniors to join groups and participate in the many opportunities available.

“Recreational and volunteer programmes, from chess clubs to art galleries to community gardens and many other cultural services are listed in our latest Seniors Directory, providing important points of contact to ensure they’re socially connected in retirement.

“For example, the latest Directory includes more computing and information technology education opportunities, such as Computer Pals for Seniors, which apart from being interesting, helps keep our senior citizens connected, engaged and informed.” Mayor Regan said.

The Seniors Directory is not only a vital resource for senior citizens but a practical tool for carers, family members and service providers.

The Directory is free and available at Northern Beaches Council Customer Service Centres, Libraries and Community Centres. They are also distributed through medical centres, retirement villages, organisations and groups.
