The Coastal Environment Centre (CEC) at Lake Park Road, North Narrabeen is hosting a free action-packed Open Day to celebrate ‘Biodiversity Month’ (10am - 1pm, Saturday, 7 September).

Biodiversity Month, held in September each year, aims to promote the importance of protecting, conserving and improving biodiversity both within Australia and across the world.

Come along and meet native animals, and learn all about them from expert wildlife handlers.

Help transform your garden into a wildlife haven by making possum boxes, bee hotels and seed balls. Planting seed balls is a great way to reseed the landscape while teaching kids the importance of native plants and the environment.

Learn how to make re-useable food wrap with beeswax, a great alternative to cling wrap!

There will be an expert on hand for all of your composting and worm-farming questions, with a native plant give-away with detailed information about the plants, too. Don’t forget to make your own ‘pedal-powered’ blender bike smoothie as well.

Other activities include a face painter, giant games, live music, and of course, all of the amazing displays on show at the Centre.

“The Coastal Environment Centre has programs for all ages and interests,” said Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan.

“The Centre also inspires people of all ages to make positive connections to our local environment through hands-on learning.”

No bookings are necessary, just come to the CEC and join in!
