Harbord Diggers’ Anzac Day Commemorations Across the Beaches

Harbord Diggers will be commemorating ANZAC Day this year with its traditional morning service on Wednesday 25 April to remember and pay respect to our diggers.

Harbord Diggers is currently under redevelopment but will be hosting the ANZAC morning service in its usual location at the eastern flagpole off 80 Evans Street, with the service to commence from 8am.

Renowned for its annual ANZAC Day events, the club this year will be continuing commemorations by hosting its annual two-up festivities at its sister venue, Manly Bowling Club from 12pm.

Harbord Diggers General Manager Dale Hunt said that commemorating ANZAC Day, even while the venue is not open, was essential given its longstanding history.

“The construction of Stage One is nearing completion and we are planning another fantastic morning service at our iconic headland location in Freshwater,” said Dale.

“As a venue that was founded by World War I diggers more than 80 years ago, we will always find a way to pay respect and honour their legacy on ANZAC Day, regardless of our closure.

“ANZAC Day is especially important to Harbord Diggers as it’s an opportunity for the entire community to come together and commemorate our past.

“Our morning service will include a traditional march, wreath laying ceremony and choir performances from the Sydney Philharmonic VOX choir who have performed at our ANZAC service for many years,” continued Dale.

“We invite all locals to join us for this truly special day to pay respect to our country’s history, the men and women who have fought for our country and to those defending and serving our country today,” concluded Dale.

For more information on ANZAC Day activities, visit the Manly Bowling Club website or phone (02) 9938 7657.
