International Women’s Day 2018 - An Evening of On-Water Sporting Activities

The 8th of March will see communities around the world come together to support International Women’s Day.

One of the key focuses for this year’s campaign is The International Women's Day 2018 #PressforProgress Women's World Sport Initiative, highlighting women's sporting contributions and participation. The aim is to celebrate the people, teams, communities and media who actively choose to support, cover and feature women's sport.

To support this initiative, Red Paddle Co are hosting an evening of on-water sporting activities and everyone’s welcome to join in the action. 

From 5-7pm at Manly Warf the international paddle boarding company will be devoting an evening to women in sport and encouraging everyone to get on the water. This event forms part of a larger global initiative by the brand, where community paddling events will happen across the World on March 8th.

Bronte Hackford, Marketing Manager for Red Paddle Co Australia explains the reason for their event, “We’re very keen to encourage and support more girls and women to get into sport in general, and paddle boarding is such a great activity to try. You don’t need heaps of kit and after a quick lesson you’re ready to go and explore your world! We have events running all over the world, bringing communities together to celebrate International Women’s Day.”

Paddle boarding is now the world’s fastest growing sport and Hackford explains why; “SUP is such an inclusive activity and its popularity is down to the freedom it gives you, an opportunity to clear your mind and have fun with friends and family.”

There will be a range of Red Paddle Co inflatable SUP boards for people to try throughout the evening, but you’re also welcome to bring your own board along too and be a part of the action. In addition to paddle boarding, the event will feature SUP yoga sessions throughout the evening lead by Flow Mocean, Manly Kayaks will run SUP ball games, plus Lululemon will be practicing yoga on dry land to limber you up for the water. SunBum will also be present at the event, providing everyone with sun lotion.

At 6pm a mass community paddle will set off around the harbour. Everyone is welcome, this event is in celebration of women but men are very welcome too.
