Council is hosting a community forum on the State Governmentís proposed Beaches Link tunnel project on Wednesday 17 October at Balgowlah RSL (6-9pm) to allow residents to discuss the tunnelís design and help inform our submission to Roads and Maritime Service (RMS).

The State Government led project is currently in the planning phase with the proposed reference design to be released to the public by the RMS in July.

Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said Council values the communities input and want to hear from as many people as possible to ensure their voice is heard.

“For the hundreds of commuters travelling to and from the city every day, a tunnel that knocks a half hour off travel times sounds like bliss. For others living near the construction zone and entry points, the prospect of the Beaches Link Tunnel may not be so attractive.

“We want to make sure that if any proposed tunnel project goes ahead, that our community’s views are heard and reflected in our submission.

“We are in the first stages of a long process but we have a real chance to influence the designs at this early stage.

“This forum is the perfect opportunity to provide your thoughts to Council on the project. Make sure you register your attendance and if you would like to speak at the event,” Mayor Regan said.

If you haven’t yet seen the detailed designs for the state government’s proposed tunnel, visit the RMS website. The project is expected to go on public exhibition in November.

The RMS is also hosting a number of information sessions on the Beaches Link Tunnel project in the Northern Beaches community throughout October. To find out more click here.

Registrations are now open if you’d like to join the event and also speak at the forum. Please visit Council's website for more information.
