Some of Sydney’s most talented teenage musicians made their way to the Council Chambers in Dee Why on Saturday night for the final of Northern Composure Unplugged.

Jordyn Richards was announced as the winner, and the talented youngster was in a state of shock after her name was read out.

“I couldn’t believe it, after Joker In The Pack and Sean (Mulligan) were called up on stage (for second and third place), it was anyone’s final,’’ the 17-year-old said.

“I was happy with how I performed, but you never know what the judges are thinking.

“Thankfully it went my way, it means a lot, the talent on display was incredible.”

Ms Richards entered the event on the recommendation of two friends, Natalie Theodore and Julia Manias.

She wowed the judges after performing her own track I Know as well as Regina Spektor’s classic Indie pop hit Samson.

The youngster received $600 in merchandise, $500 cash, a marketing package and guaranteed air time on Radio Northern Beaches after winning Northern Composure Unplugged.

“My advice to singers or bands out there is to take every opportunity you can to perform,’’ she said.

“You never know who is watching and what the outcome will be.

“Thank you also to the Council, the final was great fun with a chilled and relaxed vibe.”

Northern Beaches Council Mayor Michael Regan declared the night a ‘huge success.’

“I expected high quality music, and everyone delivered,’’ he said.

“It was a pleasure to be involved and well done to all the solo artists and bands.

“It was also fun to see the (Council) Chambers transformed fairly dramatically, even if it was for one night only.”

A live recording of Northern Composure Unplugged plus interviews with the finalists will be aired on Radio Northern Beaches (88.7FM and 90.3FM) this Saturday 14 December from 8pm.
