Following the success of its rosé and beer festival events, Harbord Diggers will host an inaugural 'It's a Gin Thing' event on Saturday 29 February 2020 from 2pm to 6pm.

Gin connoisseurs and liquor lovers will be given the opportunity to taste the best of craft and popular gins, direct from Australian and International distillers with the Diggers venue at Freshwater Beach providing a spectacular backdrop.

The four-hour gin festival is designed to make the most of the last few weeks of summer sunshine and ease guests through to the evening with live music and fresh Sydney Rock Oysters all included in the ticket cost.

Arely Carrion, Venue Manager of Harbord Diggers is excited to bring a celebration of some of the world’s most popular gin distillers to the Northern Beaches.

“Gin is by far the world’s most fragrant and versatile spirit and we hope that our It’s a Gin Thing festival will bring to light the beautiful botanicals and inspired drinks that gin lends itself to,” said Arely.

“I think those who don’t often drink gin have a preconceived idea of what the spirit is, without realising that it really is very versatile – not only on how it can be mixed, but in the distilling process and the variety of flavour infusions available.

“It’s ultimately a day for our members and guests to enjoy their favourite gin or sample other niche drops with a range of mixers,” she continued.

The festival follows closely behind the recent gin trend that has swept through bars and bottle shops around Australia, bringing with it a shift in the industry that sees distillers pushing the flavour boundaries.

“The gin industry in Australia has expanded quite rapidly over the past few years, and we’re really excited to see so many local and international distillers coming onboard to showcase their gin products to the Northern Beaches,” said Arely.

Festival partners include Proof & Company with their premium Citadelle Gin de France, Noble Spirit’s Garden Grown and Four Pillars Gin from the Yarra Valley.

Local distillery Manly Spirits Co. will feature their Australian Dry, Coastal Citrus and Lilly Pilly Pink Gins, whilst Brookie’s Gin, Hartshorn Distillery, Gordon’s Gin and Tanqueray will add a variety of offerings to the festivities.

Tickets are selling fast for this highly anticipated event. General entry to the It’s a Gin Thing festival for members and guests is $40 per person and includes eight gin sample drinks, two Sydney Rock Oysters and live music.
