Manly Meals on Wheels popular Community Restaurant service turned 21-years-old on Tuesday, 31 July!

Since its first restaurant opening at the Manly Senior Citizens Centre on Pittwater Road in 1997,  Manly  Meals on Wheels has gone on to expand their service at Manly Town Hall, The Corso (at St. Matthew's Church Hall), and Seaforth Sporting and Community Pavilion.

Mayor of Northern Beaches Michael Regan said since the service’s first Community Restaurant they’ve had an open door policy offering meals to thousands of people.

“Everyone is welcome at the Manly Meals on Wheels community lunches. They prepare a nutritious, three-course meal, and it’s an opportunity to meet new people and connect with a supportive network.

“Over the years the Restaurants have been in operation, tens-of-thousands of meals have been served to countless regular patrons.”

“Seniors are welcome to bring their friends and family to the luncheons for a hearty meal and good company.

“The staff and volunteers of Council’s Meals on Wheels service are delighted with the overwhelming, on-going public support for the Community Restaurants,” Mayor Regan said.

The original Community Restaurant at Manly Seniors Centre (275 Pittwater Rd) continues to offer $10 lunches every Friday from 11.30am, also providing limited bus transport ($2 return).

Each Tuesday, a lunch is held either at St. Matthew's Church Hall (or in Manly Town Hall on the last Tuesday of the month) from 11.30am ($10).

On the first Monday of every month, there’s a community barbecue lunch in the Seaforth Sporting and Community Pavilion on Wakehurst Parkway ($10 – also with limited bus transport for $2 return).

The Community Restaurant luncheons consist of soup, a main meal, bread roll, dessert and tea or coffee.
