Mounties Group has presented $680,000 to local community groups via its ClubGRANTS scheme with the total amount funded by the Group in the 2018/2019 financial year now $7.1 million.

With a commitment to supporting the local community, Mounties Group has allocated $680,000 to 42 organisations and 54 projects with a formal presentation made to these worthy causes last Thursday.

This year’s grant recipients provide a range of community services to the Liverpool, Fairfield and Northern Beaches communities with grants funded from Mounties Groups clubs – Mounties, Triglav, Mekong and Harbord Diggers.

Two beneficiaries include The Humour Foundation and Delta Society Australia who have both received funding to support their valued programs.

The Humour Foundation received almost $10,000 to support its Clown Doctor initiative that offers entertainment, humour and play as a means of making hospitals a less lonely place for children.

Clown Doctors bring ‘doses’ of fun and laughter to the child’s bedside through improvised engagements, jokes and magic.

“The ClubGRANTS funding from Mounties Group will directly contribute to the ongoing delivery of our Clown Doctors program at NSW’s largest children’s specialist hospital – The Children’s Hospital at Westmead,” said Humour Foundation Grants and Major Gifts Manager Katrina Richardson.

“Four days of every week or 200 times each year, the Clown Doctors deliver fun and laughter throughout the wards, clinics and even the lifts, foyers and hallways of medical facilities.

“The clowns lift the hospital environment for everyone.  Each year they engage with over 24,000 patients, their families and hospital staff just at Westmead but there are over 20 hospitals they visit around the country,” she added.

Receiving a $2,500 grant, the Delta Society Australia will use its funding to continue taking therapy dogs to aged care, hospital and disability facilities in a bid to brighten the lives of local residents.

“We are very excited to receive this funding from Mounties Group to contribute to our Delta Therapy Dogs program that brings the joys of animal companionship to those who need it most,” explained National Therapy Dogs Manager, Liz Woodward.

“Delta’s amazing and devoted volunteer Therapy Dog Teams brighten the lives of an estimated 20,000 Australians in hospitals and care facilities every week,” she continued.

Mounties Group president Kevin Ingram was thrilled to be supporting such worthy causes again this year.

“This annual grant presentation is significant for Mounties Group as we are always looking to support organisations that benefit locals,” said Mr Ingram.

“The ClubGRANTS funding forms part of the $7.1 million we have given in the last financial year which comes from the ClubGRANTS scheme, community cash contributions, charity donations and local sporting sponsorships.”

“These ClubGRANTS are just one of the many ways Mounties Group is proactive in providing support, services and facilities for the betterment of our local community,” he concluded.
