Seven new inductees have joined Warringah Aquatic Centre’s Hall of Fame.

The new members were announced last Sunday, 3 November by Mayor Michael Regan during the pool’s 40th birthday celebrations.

Mayor Regan said the Hall of Fame acknowledges swimmers and officials who have represented Australia or who have contributed to the Warringah / Northern Beaches community.

“These seven remarkable people have been selected for their outstanding achievements in the local swimming world and Council congratulates them all.”

Brendan Foley

Brendan Foley who was recently awarded a Life Time Pass at the pool has had an extensive and successful swimming career representing Australia at numerous World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships between 2006 and 2012. He has been a World Record holder for a number of his selected events and continues to swim competitively at Warringah Aquatic Centre.

He has also represented Australia at the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2012 World Down Syndrome Swimming Championships. He continues to swim and train with Warringah Masters Swimming competing favourably against able-bodied swimmers.

Judy Tier

For more than 30 years Judy has volunteered her time to work as a referee, judge, starter and recorder at countless club and district carnivals. In addition, Judy has represented Warringah District by working as a Swimming NSW Official.

Judy has worked relentlessly to ensure the success of swimming in our local area. She is a former President of Manly Ladies, Warringah Amateur Swimming Association (WASA) and Swimming Metropolitan North.

Judy has been actively involved in Council meetings to ensure that competitive swimming remains at the forefront of any decisions relating to the future of the Warringah Aquatic Centre.

Lois Clarke OAM

Lois’ continued efforts and contribution to swimming saw her awarded the Order of Australia in 2017. Lois has worked closely with Northern Beaches Council to protect the interests and opportunities for junior and elite athletes from the Warringah area over 6 years.

She has worked tirelessly to promote swimming, especially among our juniors locally. She is the current President of Warringah Amateur Swimming Association (WASA), current Race Secretary for Northern Beaches Swim Club and former Vice President, Secretary and Development Officer for WASA.

Lynette Foley

Lyn’s involvement in swimming saw her intrinsically involved in swimming with those with a disability. And Lyn has rarely missed attending and volunteering at Swimming NSW Multi Class events since 2000.

As a technical official, Lyn has volunteered at school, zone, State, Swimming NSW, as well as the 2000 Olympics and Paralympics. She always makes herself available to help and assist.

In recent years, Lyn served on the committee of Warringah Aquatic Swim Club as its Vice President and as the Delegate to Warringah Amateur Swimming Association (WASA).

Morna Hill

Morna Hill has enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a competitor, official and administrator. Starting in Scotland, then Australia, she has accreditations in both countries. She has worked untiringly and professionally as an official at club, district, state, national and international level.

Morna has been a pillar of the Warringah Amateur Swimming Association (WASA) and has held numerous office-bearer positions since the early 1990s. She has also served on the Race and Carnival Committee and the Selection Committee.

Sue Perry

Sue is Life member of WASA and has been involved with the Association for many years. She was instrumental in setting up the Meet Manager system which streamlined the deciphering and recording of race results, removing the laborious backroom work from the process.

Richard Vander Reyden

Richard is a life member of WASA. He has officiated at WASA and school swim meets at the WAC for 20 years, and more recently for the Warringah Masters meets as well. Richard is an active referee for WASA and Masters Swimming. He has been a member of the Avalon Bilgola Swimming Club for more than 40 years.

He was also instrumental with the integration of the Alge timing system and Meet Manager applications to allow for the seamless transfer of results between the two systems. To further streamline the WASA meet entries and results, he implemented an online membership and entry system for use by the WASA Clubs.
