Spiegelesque - Wayne Kermond
Glen Street Theatre holds a special place in the career of Wayne Scott Kermond. Itís where he premiered Jive Junkys 20 years ago, which went on to tour Australia and win a Pick of the Fringe Award at Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Now he is set to return in Spiegelesque at Glen Street Theatre, Belrose for a limited time (17 August – 15 September 2018).

Following Jive Junky in 2007, he premiered Candy Man at Glen Street, performing a sold-out extended season before going on to receive standing ovations at the Lyric Theatre, Melbourne Arts Centre and Queensland Performing Arts Centre.

Now Wayne Scott Kermond is returning with his theatrical cabaret sensation, Spigelesque - an electric, immersive, daring, mix of comedy, circus, cabaret and burlesque.

Spiegelesque is captivating world-class entertainment that entices audiences to leave their real lives at the door.

Musical Theatre Performer Wayne Scott Kermond says there is no other show like it.

“We’re going to throw the most exciting party Glen Street has seen in a long time. It’s going to be an amazing mix of people. We’ve assembled the best cabaret artists around.  And there’ll be some surprising twists,” he said.

When asked what was so special about Glen Street Theatre, Wayne replied, “The theatre and the people working there are so very nurturing. When you walk into the foyer it feels like home. The audiences are wonderful - they are keen theatre goers, and I think they really appreciate having such a fantastic venue on their door step.”

As a fourth generation performer, Wayne’s family also has a strong connection to Glen Street. His father, Warren Kermond, tells of how George Sorlie, a Vaudevillian Showman of the last century, used to own most of the land around Glen Street, which was known as ‘Sorlieville’ at the time.

“Maybe old George Sorlie’s spirit - the spirit of showmen - is still in the land that Glen Street sits on.”

“I’m so excited about performing this pop-up cabaret. The intimate venue is so right for this show. I think that living in a world of screens as we now do, audiences will love the immersive style of this Spiegel Tent-inspired Cabaret.

“I get to play your enticing host, Vayne, and take audiences on a serendipitous romp to the decadent world of cabaret. You never know what might happen, so watch out Glen Street, here we come!” said Wayne Kermond.
