Youth Mental-Health & Wellbeing Advocate to Share His Insights
Nic, who spent his teenage years in Avalon, has personally experienced the pain of a mood disorder and losing his brother to suicide.
He counts himself fortunate to have received family, peer and professional support during the turbulent teen years, allowing him to recover and heal.
He has since dedicated himself to changing the way mental illness is addressed in schools, workplaces, and communities, reaching out to millions of people through television, live talks, documentaries, eHealth programs and much more.
The key to Nic’s approach to making a positive impact is by “sharing and listening” to encourage helpful, unscripted conversations around mental health, suicide prevention, and getting the most out of life.
In his presentation, Nic will share his personal experience of family, life and school in an environment where he felt he had to spend each day hiding.
Nic details the road to healing and thriving that he and his family eventually moved along and details what we can all learn in order to help ourselves and the people around us.
