The Linden Quartet with guest violist, Jane Hazelwood performs Quintessence, featuring three exemplary “Viola” String Quintets by Mozart, Vaughan-Williams and Bruch for Wyvern Music Forestville. Be enthralled by the drama and emotion of Mozart’s String Quintet in G Minor, K. 516 and bask in the exceptional richness of the inner voices. Be transported to another world of Elizabethan England and English folk-song by Vaughan-Williams’ Phantasy Quintet. And finally savour the beautiful melodies and virtuosity of Bruch’s String Quintet in E-flat.
The Linden String Quartet was formed first in 2004 as The Linden String Trio by violinist, Marina Marsden (Principal 2nd Violinist, Sydney Symphony Orchestra) and Justine Marsden (violist, Sydney Symphony Orchestra). On this occasion the Marsden sisters are joined by Emily Long (1st violinist, SSO), Fenella Gill (cellist, SSO) and Jane Hazelwood (violist, SSO). The Quartet has recorded three CDs of Australian music for Wirripang, Heaven-Haven (Phillip Wilcher), Movement (Horace Keats)and Sea and Landscapes (Brennan Keats).
