The Newport Celebrates Its First Summer Season
With An Exciting Programme Of Free Events And Experiences

The Newport, Merivale’s expansive lifestyle venue set on the stunning shores of Pittwater, is celebrating its first summer with an exciting programme of free daily events and experiences for all ages, kicking off Monday 7 November. The dynamic gathering place also welcomes new Executive Chef Jordan Toft and presents its first publishing venture, Our Newport - a showcase of the people and stories that shape the Northern Beaches.

Justin Hemmes said: “It has been the most incredible eight months since we opened The Newport at Easter. Over this time, the venue has really found its soul, its beating heart. Now, with a jam-packed calendar of daily experiences, live music events and the exceptional talent of Jordan Toft in the kitchen, we are a set for a phenomenal first summer at one of the most spectacular locations this country has to offer”.

The Newport’s weekly programme of FREE experiences includes:

Monday: Breathe + Summer Film Programme

Kickstart the week every Monday morning with The Newport Run Club (9am); yoga on the deck (9:30am) or stand up paddle boarding with Ironman Kendrick Louis (10:00am). Finish it off with The Newport granola brekkie bowl for $12.50.

Later that evening, sit back and enjoy The Newport Summer Film Program, featuring a line-up of Hollywood classics and family favourites.

Tuesday: Gone Surfin’

Riding the wave with the local surfing community, The Newport will screen new and classic surf films curated by Monster Children from 7.30pm. Surfers are also welcome to bring their boards to swap and sell.

Wednesday: Hands Free

Kids eat first, before enjoying fun and interactive activities led by The Newport Entertainment Team while the parents dine in peace. There will be four activities on a weekly rotating schedule from 4-8pm – ‘Circus School’, ‘Cooking Classes’, ‘Pittwater Pirates’ and ‘Hip Hop Lessons’ - delivered in partnership with local Northern Beaches businesses.

Thursday: Live Music

Live music is at the heart of the entertainment experience at The Newport. Now every Thursday 5-8pm, the venue will showcase local youth talent with a line-up curated by musicians Keith Armitage and John Stone. There will also be performances by The Newport’s own house band.

Friday: It’s Friday

Kick off every weekend with summer cocktails and sunset beats – no better way to farewell the working week.

Saturday + Sunday: Festival Weekend

Every weekend will be jam-packed with family entertainment, acoustic performances and DJs. Sunday Sundown returns on Sunday 4 December, with eight events throughout the seasons. Full dates and line-up to be announced shortly.

From 10am-12pm every Sunday, The Newport will offer free children’s activities including silent discos, face-painting, Jellybeanstreet art classes and Bricks 4 Kids workshops.

From 17 November, The Newport will be partnering with Moët Hennessy to transform part of the garden into a petanque court. For $99, guests can pick up a Mt Petanque Hamper with a dozen fresh prawns or oysters, a bottle of Moët and a game of the quintessential French pastime. Available every weekend from midday, during November and December.

The Newport welcomes new Executive Chef Jordan Toft who joins the team from Coogee Pavilion. With a passion for Australia’s beautiful and bountiful produce, Toft will be introducing new signature dishes to the diverse marketplace of food and drink experiences. Jordan will remain Executive Chef at Coogee Pavilion, presiding over the two waterside venues.

The venue is also thrilled to announce its first publishing venture, Our Newport - a printed lifestyle broadsheet showcasing the locals and stories of Northern Beaches community. Our Newport will feature beautiful lifestyle photography and interviews that cover everything from food and drink to interiors, music, sport, fashion, surfing and wellness. The likes of painter Des Sweeney, Ironman Kendrick Louis, footballer Mike Gasnier, musician John Stone, boutique owners Marisa and Gabby Manderson and Newport Surf Life Saving Club are all profiled.

Since its launch in March 2016, The Newport has been warmly embraced by the Northern Beaches community and earned a host of accolades including ‘Pub Revival of the Year’ at the Time Out Pub Awards and ‘Hotel of the Year’ at the Australian Liquor Industry Awards.
